University of Antique, DA-ATI Conduct IEC Development Seminar-Workshop

SIBALOM, Antique -- With extension as one of its main function, the University of Antique (UA) have been fervently supporting the endeavors of its extension arm in capacitating its faculty and staff involved in the implementation of extension projects.
Hence, to further improve their capabilities through the development and production of information, education and communication (IEC) materials, UA’s University Extension Services together with Department of Agriculture-Agricultural Training Institute (DA-ATI) conducted a two-day Seminar Workshop on Documentation and IEC Materials Development.

Latest Acquisitions at the ATI Library

The Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) with its own Agriculture and Fisheries Knowledge Center (AFKC) acquires new materials yearly. These materials include a daily subscription to broadsheets, monthly agriculture magazines and IEC materials and newsletters from the other attached agencies of the Department of Agriculture.

Gaa (3rd from left) met with officials from the Philippine Department of Agriculture-Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) who are visiting the United States for a study tour organized by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA).The officials presented the Philippines’ e-extension program systems (Farmers’ Contact Centers) at the U.N. Commission on Sustainable Development Learning Center and attended seminars at the Cornell University Cooperative in New York City on 14 May.

IEC development for extension workers, teachersMURCIA, NEGROS OCCIDENTAL-- Acknowledging the importance of producing IEC materials to strengthen industry participation and raise awareness among its clientele, the Western Visayas College of Science and Technology (WVCST) through its Extension Service Division (ESD) conducted a Seminar-Workshop on the Production of IEC Materials with Antonieta J. Arceo, Chief of the Agricultural Training Institute-Knowledge Products Management Division (ATI-KPMD), who served as the resource person.
Information, Education and Communication (IEC) Material is an approach which attempts to reinforce a set of behaviours in a target audience regarding a specific problem, product or service. It generally combines strategies, approaches and methods that enable individuals, groups, and communities to play active roles in achieving the set goals.
