PAEF announces 2010-2011 Fulbright-RP Agri Scholarship Program competition

DILIMAN, QUEZON CITY -- The Philippine-American Educational Foundation (PAEF) now opens the competition for the 2010-2011 Fulbright-Philippine Agriculture Scholarship Program (FPASP) for research awards in the United States. 

The FPASP aims to modernize the agriculture and fisheries sectors of the Philippines by developing their human resource base through bilateral educational exchanges between the United States and the Philippines.  The research grant is not only to enable the recipient to pursue a particular field of study/research but to develop leaders in agriculture and fisheries who can contribute to promote better understanding between the Philippines and the United States. 

Awards are made through open competition based on individual merit without regard to race, color or creed.  Under the 2010-2011 program, awards are given to Filipinos from the agriculture, fisheries and forestry fields to conduct advanced research or non-degree doctoral dissertation research in the United States. The competition is open to employees of the the Department of Agriculture and its affiliate agencies; faculty and staff from accredited state and private colleges and universities offering programs in agriculture and fisheries; and professionals from non-government organizations, government financial institutions, and other government and private agencies.

Application forms may be obtained directly from the PAEF office and can be downloaded from their website at www.paef.org.ph.  The deadline for applications is on September 11, 2009. (Anna Medrano)
