ATI Intensifies its Monitoring and Evaluation System for Better Governance

CURRIMAO, Ilocos Norte – When a sound project monitoring and evaluation equates to a successful project, an agency must ensure it has a good system in place.

That is why the Department of Agriculture – Agricultural Training Institute (DA-ATI) called forth its Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) officers, report officers and selected senior staff for a four-day capability training to supplement their knowledge, skills and attitude in the latest and improved M&E tools such as the web-based Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation System (PMES).

The activity was aimed at developing a balanced action plan, management and implementation guidelines, and M&E for DA-ATI’s projects in its efforts towards the Millenium Development Goals.  Specifically, the training was the venue to discuss the MDG; differentiate program from project and paradigm; verbalize and formulate action plan with monitoring and evaluation tools.

Part of the targeted training outputs is a strengthened agricultural extension system in the country through the use of the PMES.  The system consisted of work and financial plans and monthly accomplishments of the various ATI Network of Training Centers as well as databases of trainings conducted, directory of participants, among others.

The training on M&E was conducted last October 12 to 15, 2010 in Nipa Beach Resort, Currimao, Ilocos Norte. (Yovina-Claire R. Agsawa)
