Aurora e-Village Project Gears Up For Phase II

AURORA -- After the successful implementation of the first phase of the Aurora e-Village Project for the central towns of Aurora Province, the project now moves on for its second phase which includes the northern and southern towns of the province.

For the Phase II, the project will be implemented in the four remaining towns of Aurora namely Dinalungan, Casiguran, Dilasag and Dingalan. Also, expansion sites in Central Aurora and Aurora Provincial Sub-capitol will be given connectivity and appropriate ICT wares.

The Aurora e-Village Project aims to integrate the Information Communication Technology (ICT) as part of a rural community’s life to improve access to information, enhance productivity, increase family income thereby improving the quality of life in the community. It also aims to provide a collective strategy in the adoption, dissemination, and commercialization of technology-based, market-driven production system for agricultural productivity and competitiveness.

A total of four cooperatives and 11 barangays were selected from the four towns as the target beneficiaries and project sites as the result of the site assessment and validation conducted based on pre-determined criteria.

Series of livelihood training programs and basic ICT literacy training courses will be conducted by the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) for the identified project beneficiaries as well as the administration of e-learning courses on various crops and livestock. An ICT roadshow will be held in December 2010 to increase the awareness and knowledge about the project and to formally commence the project for its Phase II.
