ATI Webmasters Gathered to Revamp ATIiNteractive Site

Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) WebmastersDILIMAN, Quezon City –Recognizing the continuous and rapid evolution of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) recently gathered its pool of webmasters to revamp its corporate website, including those of its network of ATI Training Centers.

Since the inception of the ATIiNteractive, the official website of the ATI, the Drupal 6 has been used as its Content Management System (CMS) and with the introduction of Drupal 7, considering its user-friendly interface, the ATI web team worked on to give their corporate websites a new look.
 

Internal Control System for Organic Agriculture: ATI Trains Trainers for Small Holder Groups

 
DAVAO CITY--- The Department of Agriculture through the Agricultultural Training (ATI) held recently a training that focused on the importance on certification and labelling in marketing organic products.
 
Dubbed as the Trainers' Training on Organic Agriculture Internal Control System (ICS) For Smallholder Groups, the certification system is a device to reduce cost for farmers with low income towards a system of combined internal and external controls applicable to all types of groups, as well as a model for all organic certification.
 

Supplementing Farm Income through Agri-Eco Tourism

PUERTO PRINCESA CITY, Palawan — With the Panagbenga and Adivay Festivals in Benguet, Timpupo Festival in Kidapawan, Manggahan Festival in Guimaras and Camuigin’s Lanzones Festival, among others, agri-eco tourism is not at all a new concept in the country.  
 
Such initiatives have been long used as a viable means of improving the economic state of rural areas.  Thus, agri-eco tourism concept involves bringing visitors to farms so they can learn, appreciate and experience first-hand agricultural technologies and practices of the community.  More extensive agri-eco tourism activity in the area means more tourists which then leads to higher revenues for farmers and fishers and the locale as a whole.

ATI Goes for Organic Agriculture

BACOLOD CITY--- As the extension and training arm of the Philippine Department of Agriculture, the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) held a trainers' training that aimed to promote organic agriculture in the country.
 
Based on the Republic Act 10068 or the Organic Agriculture Act, Agriculture Secretary Proceso J. Alcala tasked the ATI to lead in the implementation of organic agriculture extension, information, trainings and education activities in the country.

MAKATI CITY--- On its second year of program implementation, the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) recently held its mid-year assessment to determine its progress and attainment of their goals and objectives relative to the 4-H Club Youth Development Program (FYDP), a rural-based organization (RBO) that helps attain Food Security and Self-Sufficiency of the Department of Agriculture. 
 

ATI Reviews Performance for 1st sem 2011

 

TAGAYTAY CITY ---  Around 52 key officers and senior staff of the Institute gathered together to review and assess their accomplishments for the first semester vis-a-vis ATI work and financial plan for this year. 
 
The activity ensured the Institute to deliver its extension programs more effectively and continued contribution to food security  and increased sector resilience to climate change risks  of the Philippine Medium Term Development Plan for 2011 to 2016.
 

e-Learning Courses on Sustainable Agriculture: Coming Soon!


CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, Misamis Oriental – More online courses at e-Learning for Agriculture and Fisheries are coming up!

Courses with emphasis on Sustainable Agriculture are currently being developed by the new set of courseware developers from the academe; local government and the private sector.  These courses cover various topics on natural farming systems for crops and livestock; rice-duck integrated farming system; organic rice breeding; production of organic cassava, organic rice, organic carrot, organic upland rice and trichoderma; alternative pest management for organic rice; seaweed extract production; and soil health management.

Going Back to Basic Farming: ATI, JICA Hold Forum on Good Practices in Organic Farming

DILIMAN, Quezon City – To be a developed agricultural country, one must go back to the “basics of farming.“
 
This was the assertion during the knowledge sharing forum on Good Practices in Organic Farming focused on Safe Vegetable Promotion Project that was organized by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI).
