Vis-Min Batch Trained on 4-H Club Web-Based Profiling and Monitoring System

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, Misamis Oriental – After the successful implementation of the Training on 4-H Club Web-Based Profiling and Monitoring System for the Luzon batch, the training shifted down south for the next batch in Visayas and Mindanao.

The Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) which has been in support of the 4-H Club activities conducted the training with the regional 4-H club coordinators, rural-based focal persons from the ATI Centers and the regional 4-H club presidents and selected officers from the southern part of the country as participants.

Boosting Participation of South, South-East Asian Grassroots through Farmer-Led Extension Delivery System


MANILA, Philippines ―  Farmers’ participation in extension is the key to pass on agricultural services and technology breakthroughs more effectively and efficiently in rural and remote areas.   Thus, building a solid Farmer-Led Extension (FLE) Delivery System in a county entails having mechanisms and resources that enable farmers, as well as farm-organizations, to choose which extension services or technologies best suit their needs.
 

University of Antique, DA-ATI Conduct IEC Development Seminar-Workshop

SIBALOM, Antique -- With extension as one of its main function, the University of Antique (UA) have been fervently supporting the endeavors of its extension arm in capacitating its faculty and staff involved in the implementation of extension projects.
Hence, to further improve their capabilities through the development and production of information, education and communication (IEC) materials, UA’s University Extension Services together with Department of Agriculture-Agricultural Training Institute (DA-ATI) conducted a two-day Seminar Workshop on Documentation and IEC Materials Development.

ATI Bolsters Management of EHRDP, YAFP Scholarships

PUERTO PRINCESA, Palawan ― Ensuring a better, more efficient and effective implementation of its scholarship programs, the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) conducted an assessment workshop on the Expanded Human Resource Development Program (EHRDP) and the Youth in Agriculture and Fisheries Program (YAFP).
 
The workshop focused on reviewing and improving the implementation of the said programs which involved identification of various problems encountered, lessons learned, areas that need to be enhanced and some features that would supplement the programs.  Aside from these, the activity also intended to generate an updated master list of scholars’ profiles along with their documentary requirements as well as the completion reports on non-degree courses and observation tours.

DA-ATI Finalizes Guidelines on Rice Extension Funds

TAGAYTAY CITY --- As the national apex agency for agricultural extension and training, the Department of Agriculture's Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) gathered recently the regional rice program coordinators to finalize the guidelines on the availment of the rice extension funds.
 

Faster Web-based Profiling and Monitoring System Now Accessible for the 4-H Clubs

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – As the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) strengthen its Management Information System (MIS) through automation and Information and Communication Technology (ICT), the Institute developed a web-based profiling and monitoring system for the 4-H Clubs. The 4-H Club is a rural based organization for the youth in the agriculture and fisheries sector.

The 4-H Web-based Profiling and Monitoring System will serve as a database containing basic information on the members of the 4-H club and its various activities and projects. The system will also be a monitoring tool for the 4-H Coordinators in the national and regional level.
With this new system, a training on the use of this web-based profiling and monitoring system was conducted for the Regional 4-H Coordinators, ATI Regional RBO Focal Persons and the Regional 4-H Presidents and some officers of the 4-H Clubs for Luzon.

DA-ATI, DOST-PCARRD Conduct Joint Consultative Meeting on Techno-Gabay Institutionalization

MANILA, Philippines -- With Executive Order 801 or the Institutionalization of the Techno Gabay Program (TGP) to the Department of Agriculture-Agricultural Training Institute (DA-ATI) from the Department of Science and Technology - Philippine Council for Agriculture, Forestry and Natural Resources Research and Development (DOST- PCARRD) now fully in effect, managers at the national level deemed it necessary to conduct a consultation meeting with its counterpart at the regions to communicate the plans for institutionalization.

Aurora e-Village Rolls Out its Phase-2 Project Implementation

AURORA, Philippines ― Alleviating lives of rural communities in the province of Aurora through the use of information and communications technology (ICT) is the foremost goal for the establishment of the Aurora e-Village Project last 2009.  Thus, the successful implementation of its Phase-1 in the central towns – Baler, San Luis, Maria Aurora and Dipacualo – has proven that the project’s objectives are perfectly attainable.
 
As such, the project is now all set to expand its coverage and extend its services to the northern and southern towns of the province such as Dilasag, Casiguran and Dinalungan.  The second phase took-off with an information-dissemination campaign to create awareness and steer interest in the communities by means of an ICT Road Show in the said towns last March 1 to 3, 2011, respectively.

Reinforcing Value Chain in Agricultural Products of ASEAN Countries: an International Training Course Facilitated


MANILA, Philippines ― Current trends in globalization and trade liberalization instigate loads of challenges to developing countries’ agriculture and fisheries.  With the incessant increase of farm inputs cost, large corporations continue to dominate over small-to-medium as well as local enterprises.  Thus, the key here is to create or incorporate value-adding activities in the supply chain – from production to farm gate – so that these small players can cope up and have a better chance against bigger competitors.
 
Being aware of this scenario, the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) together with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Secretariat and the Ministry of Agriculture in the Philippines organized an International Training Course (ITC) on Value Chain in Agricultural Products with focus on agricultural cooperatives activities last January 30 to February 12, 2011 in Bayview Park Hotel, Manila; La Corona Hotel, Lipa City, Batangas; and Queen Margarette Hotel, Lucena City, Quezon, respectively.

Treading New Horizons on Extension: ATI Conducts Seminar-Workshop on Developing the Functional/System’s Program and Budget for AFE

DILIMAN, Quezon City  --  The Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) as the Department of Agriculture’s (DA) apex agency on extension, gears up for the emerging new directions on agriculture and fisheries extension (AFE) that is being planned starting 2012 and beyond.  With DA’s shift on its planning and budgeting framework from commodity-based to function-based, ATI considered it is important to conduct the Seminar-Workshop on Developing the Functional/System’s Program and Budget for AFE.

The goal of DA budgeting by function or policy instrument is not only to attain efficiency but also to insure the accelerated attainment of the outcomes or goals of agriculture modernization as spelled out in the Agriculture and Fishery Modernization Act (AFMA).
