Reconnecting Extension Workers thru the web: AEWs Database Launched

Aiming to get a general picture of the agricultural extension force in the country, the Department of Agriculture (DA) through the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) initiated the profiling of the agricultural extension workers (AEWs) through a web-based database.
 
This is in accordance with the goal of Republic Act 8435 or the Agriculture and Fisheries Modernization Act of 1997, where it aims to modernize the agriculture and fisheries sectors with the use of the latest information technology.

589 Farmers Graduate from SOA on Palayamanan in Region II

ECHAGUE, Isabela – Capacity building through training, workshops and lectures has been the standard mode of extension for farmers and fishers. But for those who are in remote areas, little or no extension activities have been conducted for them. Such is the case for the farmers and fishers of Region 2 and so, the Schools-on-the-Air (SOA) Program for Palayamanan was conducted.

The SOA Program uses the radio as a medium to reach more clients, who are interested to learn, use and practice new technologies that can help them increase their production. Innovations have been added to the program making it more interactive. It is aired season-long thus it provides a step-by-step guide for farmers at every cropping stage.

LUBAO, Pampanga – Defined as capacitating communities with scientific knowledge and technological breakthroughs through training and education, agricultural extension is a vital yield-enhancing intervention in achieving the Department of Agriculture’s (DA) long-term goals for the country.
 
As the primary extension arm of the department, the Agricultural Training Institute (DA-ATI) conducted a techno-forum for its Central Office staff on the DA’s Agri-Pinoy Framework and Rice-Self Sufficiency Program as it takes on the responsibility of making these interventions known to the local government and the agriculture and fisheries sector as a whole.
 

ATI Intensifies its Monitoring and Evaluation System for Better Governance

DA-SEARCA Offers Graduate Scholarships for the School Year 2011-2012

A plant shall never grow tall and strong without an extensive root system.  A building shall not be built high and sturdy without a good foundation.  As well as an institution will not be progressive and successful without a skilled and competent manpower.
 
As such, in capacitating its workforce, the Department of Agriculture (DA) in partnership with the Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA) opens scholarship grants for masters (MS) and doctoral studies (PhD) this coming school year 2011-2012 to its entire junior and mid-level professional staff from the central and regional offices, including its attached agencies.

ATI Strengthens AFE Policy Development with LGUs

PUERTO PRINCESA, PALAWAN ---  For effective and efficient implementation of agricultural extension programs and projects in the country, the Department of Agriculture (DA) through the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) recently conducted a training on policy development focusing on agriculture and fisheries extension (AFE).

The activity, entitled "Strengthening the Grip on Agriculture and Fisheries Extension Policy Development: A Training of Trainers," aimed to equip the ground and prime agricultural extension personnel on policy development in preparation to their role as extension service policy developers and providers for agriculture and fisheries.

New e-Learning Courses Soon to be Offered: Courseware Development Training Phase II Held

DAVAO CITY -- Rapid uploading of e-Learning courses is now on the verge of being achieved.

With 10 new courses expected to be offered in the last quarter of the year, the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) sped up the development process of the e-Learning courses by conducting the Phase II of the Courseware Development Training on e-Learning for Agriculture and Fisheries.

After developing the content of the new e-Learning courses in Phase I, focus for the Phase II was turning the content into an e-Learning course using an interactive authoring tool.
