“this is the first training I ever attended with open discussions from the start up to the end”, exclaimed by some of the participants.

The third and last batch of “Training of Palay Check Trainers” was conducted at Roxas, Palawan on June 22 – 27, 2009.   The municipality of Roxas is about two-hours drive north of Puerto Princesa City.    The first and second batches were conducted at Puerto Princesa City (Central) and Sofronio Espanola for southern Palawan respectively, late last year.

It was attended by thirty three Agricultural Extension Workers who are directly involved in Palay Production. Large majority of them are either seed inspectors and or have conducted Farmer Field School sessions at their respective areas of assignment.   Participants were also represents the whole province.

This training was conducted by the Agricultural Training Institute Regional Training Center IV-B under the direct supervision of its Project Officer Norberto Maur.   Activity will not be successful without supports from his Assistant Project Officer Lorna Palomera, administrative help from Mrs. Christine G. Magnaye and Mr. Ruben P. Jugno on other technical matters.

Mr. Eugene Gatpandan – the Supervising Agriculturist of the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist – Palawan, Mrs. Milagros Cacal – Senior Agriculturist of the Palawan Agricultural Experiment Station and Mr. Carlos Domingo – City Agriculturist of Calapan City served as Resource Persons on specific subject matters.    Aside from being training facilitators members of the ATI Training Management Team also serve as one of the Resource Persons.

Subject matters were presented either through lecture-discussion and demonstration. Discussions on each topic were given through group participation. It is interesting to note that some of the participants claimed that “this is the first training I ever attended with open discussions from the start up to the end”.
