Island-Wide Technology Updates for Rice Trainors Conducted
A Mindanao-wide Rice Technology Updates for Trainors was conducted on July 19-23, 2010 to 38 Agricultural Extension Workers from Local Government Units, DA Rssearch Centers and the Agricultural Training Institute. The activity aimed at enhancing the capabilities of rice trainors by providing them updates and new technologies on rice production as adaptation mechanisms to climate change.
ICT Literacy Training for MAs and PAs Conducted
Twenty two Municipal and Provincial Agriculturists of the Provinces of Bukidnon and Camiguin attended the three-day Basic ICT and Web Appreciation Course for managers held at Harborlights Hotel, Gusa, Cagayan de Oro City on July 27-29, 2010.
MWIMPC Accredited as Extension Service Provider
The Maranding Women's Investors Multi-Purpose Coorperative (MWIMPC) based in Lala, Lanao del Norte has been officially accredited by the Agricultural Training Institute as an Extension Service Provider (ESP). The group is the first ESP to be accredited in Region 10. A P200,000 extension grant is scheduled to be released this month. This will be for the conduct of trainings on Farmer Field School on PalayCheck, ICT Literacy for AEWs and on Community Organizing.
SOA on GAP in Rice and Other Commodities to start in July 1 at Jimenez, Misamis Occidental
A School on the Air (SOA) on Good Agricultural Practices in Production of Rice and other Commodities is being aired daily from Monday to Friday, 5:00 - 6:00 A.M. at Radio 1 FM 93.1 in Jimenez, Misamis Occidental. The program started on July 1, 2010. The SOA will be conducted in 3 batches. Crop Production will be aired from July to November, Livestock will be from November to early December while Fisheries will be on December. Graduation will be held probably at the end of December or early part of January 2o11.
6 and 10- Day Trainings on PalayCheck System Yield 56 Graduates
Two trainings on PalayCheck System in Rice Production yielded fifty six graduates who are all Agricultural Extension Workers in Region 10. The graduates are expected to assist existing TOT graduates in their respective municipalities in the implementation of Farmer Field Schools in PalayCheck System.
PalayCheck System in Region 10 gets boost with 31 New Trainers
The Palay Check System in Rice Production is expected to be promoted more extensively within Region 10 with the addition of 31 new graduates of the Season-long Training of Trainers conducted by ATI-RTC 10. The new graduates presented their action plans which will be implemented this coming cropping season. This is expected to greatly impact rice productivity in the region.
School on the Air on Palaycheck System aimed to Increase Rice Productivity
A School on the Air (SOA) on Palaycheck System in Rice Production is aired every Friday and Saturday, 5:00 - 5:30 A.M. over Station DXDB-AM 594 khz in Malaybalay City. Actual demo areas showing the Palaycheck System are established in Tubigon, Anahawon and San Roque, Maramag, Bukidnon and in Managok, Malaybalay City. The SOA started on February 12, 2010 and would end on May 28, 2010. The Graduation ceremonies will be held on May 28, 2010 at 10:00 A.M. at Kaamulan Site, Malaybalay City.
Agricultural Extension Strengthened with new AFEN Officers
The election of officers for CY 2010-2011 of the Agriculture and Fisheries Extension Network (AFEN) in Region 10 is expected to boost a stronger and unified agricultural extension program within the Region. Thirteen representatives from various agencies involved in agriculture and fisheries development in the region attended the meeting on March 30, 2010 at Harborlights Hotel and Restaurant, Cagayan de Oro City. Engr. Edwin Andot, the current Regional Agriculture and Fisheries Council Chair in Region 10) (RAFC 10) was elected President.
