Department Order Number 03 series of 2007 designates the Agricultural Training Institute as lead agency for the provision of e-Extension services in collaboration with the various agencies, bureaus and organizational units of the Department of Agriculture (DA). This is to integrate and harmonize ICT-based extension delivery system for agriculture and fisheries.

ATI-RTC Cagayan Valley reached out 36,513 farmers and extension workers for its 2009 first semester target

Under the Department of Agriculture (DA) Administrative Order No. 28 series of 2008 designating ATI as Apex Agency for extension, ATI is expected to make the national agriculture and fisheries extension system more responsive to global challenges and to ensure food security.

Five batches of inbred seed production training for FLEs to become seed growers were conducted

To ensure availability of quality seeds at the right time and place, the Agricultural Training Institute-Regional Training Center Cagayan Valley trained Farmer-leader Extensionists (FLEs) as additional seed growers. A total of 148 FLEs from Isabela and Nueva Vizcaya attended the training as a requisite for the issuance of Certificate of Accreditation. 

Farmers’ field school promotes palaycheck system to increase productivity

To increase farmer productivity on rice production, the farmers’ field school was held last December 2008 to April 2009 particularly on PalayCheck system for dry cropping season. It was concluded with a mass graduation in four different sites. A total of 5,862 FFS enrollees from the provinces if Cagayan and Isabela had graduated.

Vermi composting as source of organic fertilizer gains its popularity in region 02

The use of organic compost in farming is now gaining popularity among farmers in region 02. There are many brands of organic compost available in the market but vermi compost is now gaining popularity.  Aside from its first class compost product, the farmers themselves can manufacture their own compost fertilizer requirement through the aid of vermi or earthworm worm instead of buying.

1,867 enrollees successfully finished the school-on-the air (SOA) on PalayCheck system

Out of 4,112 enrollees, 1,867 rice farmers and AEWS successfully finished the School-on-the-Air (SOA) Program on GMA Rice with emphasis on PalayCheck System this dry cropping season 2008-2009.  The graduation ceremony for the successful enrollee-graduates was conducted on April 12, 2009 at the Provincial Capitol Gymnasium, Capitol, Tuguegarao City.  Their graduation ceremony was simultaneously conducted with the graduation of the Farmer Field School (F
