Ubi Online Course Launching
TAGBILARAN CITY. – In commemoration of its annual celebration of Ubi Festival, now on its 10th year bringing the theme: "Industriya sa Ubi Palambuon Hagit sa mga Bol-anon, the online course on ubi production was launched on January 21, 2010.
Unveiling the online ubi course were Regional Executive Director for DA-7 Dir. Ricardo Oblena together with Atty. Handel Lagunay, Provincial Administrator, Bohol Province and ATI-RTC 7 Center Director, Carolyn May O. Daquio. Witnessing the event were Liza Quirog, Provincial Agriculture Officer, Bohol; Board Member AE Damalerio, Puriza Chatto, representing Congressman Edgar Chatto of the First District of Bohol, Fely Maldora, PAFC Chairperson, Edgar Barloso, President of Micro Agri-Development (MADE) and Rogelio Bernaldez, City Market Administrator.
The awarding of certificates for the online graduates on Bamboo Production was also presented during the launching with Engr. Hermes Comahig and Lourdino Sale, the first two recipients from Bohol.
The two-day festival started with a motorcade along the city thoroughfare and the formal opening of booths showcasing the different varieties from the 21 ubi growing towns in Bohol.
Spicing the festival were contest on poster making, literary and musical and best ubi-based recipe.
The display will run until January 22, 2010 and at the same time the awarding of prizes.
