The Agricultural Training Institute 8 spearheaded the AgRevOLUtion (Agricultural Revitalization through Optimum Latent Resource Utilization) activity for the officers of the provincial AFENs which exposed them to the principles and techniques that were proven effective in managing collaborative development programs and agricultural projects.

Twenty-six 4H club officers and members tried their hands on asexual propagation during their training on nursery establishment and mangement on August 24-26, 2010 at the Agricultural Training Institute 8 based at the Visayas State University, Visca, Baybay City, Leyte.

The trainees represented the 4H clubs in the provinces of Leyte and Southern Leyte who will venture into nursery enterprise of fruit trees.  These clubbers saw the promising benefits they can get from having a nursery for high value commercial crops.

With the effort to regain self sufficiency in rice production, the Agricultural Training Institute in Region 8 started another Season-Long Training of Trainers on PalayCheck System.  There are 28 agricultural extension workers who are into this year's Training of Trainers which commenced on August 23 and will end on December 10, 2010. 

The Farmers and Fisherfolk Day of the Visayas State University on August 10 became an opportune time for ATI 8 to introduce the Farmers' Contact Center.

More than 2,000 farmers, fisherfolk and entrepreneurs participated this year's field day.  The University set aside a day in its anniversary celebration to honor farmers who adopted the technologies generated by its researchers.

ATI 8 conducted one-day forum in 12 sites on Integrated Pest Management on rice from July 1 to 21, 2010 through out the region.  Farmers' attendance in each forum ranges from 65-105.  The biggest attendance was in Leyte for the 4th and 5th districts group.  A total of 1,093 farmers and agricultural extension workers of Region 8 participated in the said activity.

The 4H Club Youth Development Program has been a significant stride to address the needs of 4H clubs.  Many 4H clubs have evolved into a potent force in helping the Department of Agriculture achieved its goals in agricultural development.  They have transformed from a lethargic organizations to a more dynamic and performing organizations.

ATI 8 strengthened its human resource through a PowerPack Pro sessions with the System Technology Institute Ormoc Branch in Ormoc City on July 12-16, 2010.

ATI 8 Artist Romarico "Rico" A. Palacio joined nine other artists in another exhibit titled "Hang-aw" at the Art Gallery of the Adamson University in Manila.

The exhibit is a fund-raising activity for the University President's "Bridge Program" scholarship assistance. It was opened for viewing on June 22 until July 16.  The opening was graced by the University President Rev. Fr. Gregorio L. Banaga, Jr.
